About the show

This podcast, The Craft Project, is my attempt to explore the various ways people interpret art, making, any creative pursuit. I am intensely interested in how professional creatives balance the needs of their personal lives and commitments as well and their personal ambitions. Having spent more than a decade as a self employed designer manufacturer, maybe an artist, I know there are conflicts and they are difficult to balance. But I am also interested in the dividing line between professional and amateur/hobbyist and the definition of ART because it seems that this division is arbitrary and corrosive to the creative impulse.

I don’t have any answers, I’m counting on the people I talk to, the books I read and any ideas you have to offer. I don’t have any idea what to expect from this exercise I’m beginning, but at the very least I hope to hear a lot of entertaining stories.

If you find this podcast and blog helpful in your own journey let me know with a comment or email. Maybe you’d like to subscribe so I can provide you with an email once in a while to let you know what is coming up in the near future.

And if you think I’ve got something wrong, let me know because really, I’m figuring this out one day at a time like everyone else.
