In this episode I talk with Monica Bock, Head of the Ceramics Department at the University of Connecticut and co-head of Sculpture and Ceramics.
In the fall of 2013 I had the good fortune to take her clay sculpture class. I learned a great deal in a brief time but in the end, I was left with more questions about art and craft and creativity than when I began.
In this interview we cover a wide range of topics including her early interests in art, maintaining her creative practice, what it means to be a woman artist in an academic environment and the difficulties students must overcome in order to become artists themselves.
